ubica optimistic on BMW Sauber strength
Focusing on test work ahead of Melbourne

Robert "Wise Man" Kubica
Robert Kubica is confident that the BMW Sauber F1 Team will present itself as a powerful unit in Melbourne. A Polish proverb aptly sums up the reason for his optimism.

"In Poland we say that 'it's not important how you start, it's important how you finish, so I really am convinced we are doing a good job," he says.

In less than four weeks, the Albert Park Circuit will stage the first showdown of the Formula One season. Before the team's attention can be completely and utterly dedicated to the first Grand Prix weekend of the year, more tests are scheduled for the coming weeks.

Kubica is happy with the progress made by the BMW Sauber F1 Team since the roll-out of the new F1.08. "We introduced some new mechanical parts and also worked on the aerodynamics, which clearly improved the car," he reports.

The weeks prior to the start of the season are very busy for all members of the team, as there is great pressure on the experts to eliminate any possible weaknesses and constantly improve the car's performance as well.

"Everybody in the team is totally determined to make the F1.08 as quick as possible," Kubica confirms. "We have a well-planned schedule of steps we are going to carry out before the first race."

There has been some speculation that BMW Sauber might not retain its status of third force in Formula One, at least not at the beginning of the championship.

"At this stage of the preseason tests, we are not looking at the other teams too much," Kubica declares. "It's quite normal that everybody only shows their full potential at the start of the season in Australia."
