Wet weather changed the plans
Working apart form the group session being held near Barcelona, the BMW Sauber F1 team could be found further down the Spanish coast on the Valencia circuit.

Different track, but same conditions: due to the bad weather, the team could not run the first of three test days as scheduled. It was decided to save testing mileage – limited by the regulations – for future sessions.

Instead Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica concentrated on system checks, collecting data with the F1.08 car running on wet and extreme wet tyres.

Kubica limited his driving to six laps overall, while Heidfeld counted 22. Between them, the drivers covered 114 kilometres. Since it was raining, Heidfeld also worked on practice starts in the wet.

During the afternoon, the team conducted several practice pitstops under different conditions as a special training for the mechanics.

BMW Sauber will continue testing in Valencia for two more days, again with Heidfeld and Kubica as drivers tomorrow.
