| 13:50:50
| Welcome back to F1-Live.com and our live coverage of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. Next up is the second 90 minute practice session of the day. |
| 13:52:28
| Off track this morning there was the announcement that Singapore has finally concluded a deal to host a Grand Prix night race next season. Back on track this morning and it was the McLaren Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso who led the way. |
| 13:54:58
| Hamilton used the medium compound Bridgestone to set a best lap of 1:21.880s, four-tenths up on Alonso who remained on the harder tyre. The team ran the ‘bridge’ front wing again and seemed to be gaining over Ferrari in terms of straight line speed. |
| 13:56:19
| Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest in his F2007 with Felipe Massa fifth fastest. Testing had shown Ferrari to have quite an advantage, so unless McLaren were sandbagging, we should see some better pace from Raikkonen and Massa this afternoon. |
| 13:58:19
| Robert Kubica was a solid fourth fastest for BMW Sauber while Anthony Davidson was sixth fastest, undoubtedly on a low fuel run, in his Super Aguri Honda. Toyota seems to have made progress with Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli running well throughout the morning session. |
| 14:00:09
| The second practice session of the weekend is now underway. |
| 14:00:57
| Ralf Schumacher is the first driver out of the pit lane. He was eighth fastest this morning in his Toyota. |
| 14:02:04
| Schumacher is followed out by Trulli, Fisichella, Kovalainen and others. Unlike the morning session, there is no need for an installtion lap before getting on with the programme. |
| 14:02:57
| It is dry, sunny and hot in Spain as the drivers start their first timed laps of the session. |
| 14:03:41
| Ralf sets the first timed lap only for Trulli to beat him by less than a tenths in the sister TF107. |
| 14:04:51
| The times are changing rapidly as car after car completes the first lap. |
| 14:05:08
| Ralf pits his Toyota as Trulli regains the fastest time. |
| 14:05:38
| Hamilton is on track in his McLaren. Massa, Raikkonen and Alonso remain in the pits. |
| 14:06:46
| All change again as now Heidfeld is fastest from Thrulli, Speed and Fisichella. |
| 14:07:40
| Speed is already faster than he was this morning, while Heidfeld is about half a second off. |
| 14:07:55
| Alonso heads out while team-mate Hamilton is on his first timed lap. |
| 14:08:39
| Hamilton moves fastest ahead of Heidfeld, half a second shy of his morning best. |
| 14:10:19
| Another good lap from Hamilton, but he does not improve his best. |
| 14:10:38
| Alonso vaults up the order and is second fastest. |
| 14:10:56
| Raikkonen heads out of the Ferrari pit. |
| 14:11:23
| Hamilton shaves a tenth off his own best the next time around. |
| 14:12:57
| Raikkonen is on his first timed lap now but has yet to show McLaren beating pace. |
| 14:14:30
| Hamilton pits his McLaren and Alonso remains on track. Raikkonen's first lap is nothing special, so we can assume he is on older worn tyres. |
| 14:14:58
| Felipe Massa has yet to go out. All of the other 21 runners have set a time. |
| 14:15:15
| Raikkonen improves and is into the top six. |
| 14:15:51
| Massa heads out in his Ferrari. |
| 14:17:57
| Raikkonen is now up to third. Heidfeld is back on track after a pit stop and Alonso joins Hamilton in the pits. |
| 14:18:31
| Kovalainen pops his Renault up to third fastest only for Fisichella to beat him a few seconds later. |
| 14:19:39
| Massa moves into the top ten demoting thre Honda powered cars to the bottom of the timesheets |
| 14:21:19
| The Renault duo both pit. |
| 14:22:27
| Massa remains on track but is currently some way off the ultimate pace. However, we do not know what fuel levels they are running at so perhaps the gap of 1.2s in not a true reading. |
| 14:23:08
| Scott Speed moves second in his STR2, perhaps underlining the different programmes the teams are running at this stage of the weekend. |
| 14:23:35
| Hamilton is back out as Speed heads to the pits. |
| 14:25:44
| An improvement from Jenson Button who gets himsleft off the 22nd spot. |
| 14:26:24
| Hamilton is not as quick on this stint, indicating older tyres. Fisichella is back out as Barrichello makes progress. |
| 14:27:52
| Hamilton is currently lapping a second off his earlier times but this is importnant work for the 66 laps Grand Prix itself. |
| 14:28:59
| Fisichella improves on position and is now third fastest. |
| 14:30:34
| On his long stint, Hamilton is now lapping a little slower than Fisichella and at about the same pace as Kovalainen. Now he pits the McLaren. |
| 14:31:01
| Robert Kubica moves third fastest. Alonso is on track. |
| 14:31:41
| Mark Webber moves his Red Bull Renault fourth fastest. Alonso is on a hot lap. |
| 14:32:53
| Alonso moves fastest by a massive margin. That lap is the fastest of the day so far. |
| 14:34:45
| Alonso continues on track putting in a string of fast laps. The tyres have lost their edge after that quick run however and he is unlikley to improve his best time as the stint continues. |
| 14:36:33
| Raikkonen is back out in his Ferrari. It is a little odd that after two hours of running today, we have yet to see much pace from the Italian team. |
| 14:37:22
| Raikkonen picks up a couple of positions with a small improvement. Massa is back on track. |
| 14:37:55
| Davidson is still flogging around at the bottom of the timesheets, clearly on old tyres. |
| 14:39:37
| The front runners have all pitted for the time being. |
| 14:40:02
| Massa moves third fastest, a second off the pace of Alonso and a couple of tenths off Hamilton. |
| 14:42:55
| Liuzzi makes up some ground in the second Toro Rosso Ferrari. |
| 14:43:38
| Hamilton is back out as Webber looks to improve on his own best. |
| 14:46:04
| Most seem to be on lomg runs to similate the race conditions at the moment, so there is little in the way of dramatic times. |
| 14:46:33
| An improvement from Raikkonen who moves fourth fastest. |
| 14:48:17
| Alonso, fastest, remain in the pits. Hamilton is lapping around a second slower at the moment. As the session nears its conclusion, expect many to bolt on some fresh medium compund tyres and go for a time. |
| 14:48:37
| Raikkonen picks up another couple of tenths and moves ahead of Massa. |
| 14:51:20
| After a long stint, Raikkonen pits. Generally he was faster on the long run than Hamilton which could mean something, or may not... |
| 14:53:31
| Nick Heidfeld moves fifth fastest in his BMW Sauber. |
| 14:54:34
| Kovalainen, 12th, is back out in his Renault. Alonso also heads out. |
| 14:55:23
| Ralf Schumacher has not done much running in this session and is now down in 20th position. |
| 14:59:37
| Most of the top ten runners are on track doing long distance work for the Grand Prix itself. |
| 15:00:16
| Scott Speed runs off track in his Toro Rosso. He returns to the pits. |
| 15:03:33
| Not much going on really... Heidfeld, Massa and Alonso remain on track, but not gaining time. Davidson has moved up a few positions demoting Albers to the lowest position. |
| 15:06:01
| An improvement from Nico Rosberg on two straight laps moves him up to sixth position. |
| 15:07:33
| Davidson picks up antother three positions and is now up to 16th ahead of Barrichello and Sato. |
| 15:11:08
| These practice sessions on Friday really are dull for the paying public. Simulation runs on old tyres are hardly the thing that should make up almost three hours of running in a Grand Prix weekend. There's nothing happening - all on long runs, something they all did in testing anyway. |
| 15:11:49
| Hopefully in the final few minutes we can get to see some true pace, a little action and an indicator of who really is fast. |
| 15:12:13
| Ralf Schumacher is now slowest, but is on track in his Toyota looking to make gains. |
| 15:13:35
| Nico Rosberg improves and is now up to fifth position in his Williams Toyota. As ever, we don't know what fuel he has on board, so it a little hard to say if it iisod or not. |
| 15:14:26
| Ralf Schumacher moves up a position to 21st. Clearly his earlier pace seems to have evaporated. |
| 15:17:33
| Alonso and Hamilton are on track. Raikkonen and Massa are in the pits. Fisichella is back out and looking to improve. |
| 15:19:10
| Coulthard picks up the pace in his Red Bull and moves just ahead of team-mate Webber. |
| 15:24:29
| Raikkonen heads back out. Hopefully he is not doing more endurance running and wil at least go for a lap time. Alonso and Hamilton remain on track lapping off the pace. |
| 15:25:14
| Now Massa is back out in the sister Ferrari. |
| 15:25:47
| Just over four minutes remain and Alonso heads for the pits. |
| 15:26:10
| A quick stop for the local hero and he is back underway. |
| 15:27:02
| Button moves up nine position and is now 11th. The quick runs have started. |
| 15:28:00
| Raikkonen seems to be lapping on a similar pace as before. |
| 15:28:14
| Massa moves second fastest. |
| 15:28:28
| Now Fisichella moves second fastest. |
| 15:28:49
| Hamilton pits the McLaren. |
| 15:29:19
| Like Fisichella, Kovalainen is on a hot lap. |
| 15:29:59
| Kovalainen duly moves third fastest. |
| 15:30:05
| The chequered flag is out. |
| 15:31:29
| No improvements after the flag, so Alonso remains fastest from Fisichella, Kovalainen, Massa, Hamilton, Raikkonen and Rosberg. |
