| The lap times this morning varied a great deal depending on tyre selection and fuel loads. Robert Kubica used the soft tyre to set the pace on a 1:22.390s best in his BMW Sauber from Ferrari driver’s Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. |

| Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton were fourth and fifth fastest for McLaren Mercedes, but this tight circuit is expected to suit the handling characteristics of the MP4-22 better than the Ferrari. We shall see. |
