| Fernando Alonso set the pace this morning from McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton with the Ferrari duo of Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa close behind. Alonso led the way with a best lap of 1:17.759s, two tenths clear of Hamilton while four-tenths covered the top four. |

| The front runners ran the harder tyre this morning while many of the others bolted on the soft tyre for a final run. This moved Mark Webber up to fifth fastest in his Red Bull from Giancarlo Fisichella and Nick Heidfeld. |

| Ralf Schumacher, very much the man making the news with regard to uncertainty over his ride, was eighth fastest in his Toyota. The latest speculation is lining BMW Sauber test driver and GP2 racer Timo Glock to the seat, but as yet, Toyota has not indicated that Schumacher will be dropped, or retained, in France. |

| Robert Kubica had a small fire aboard his BMW Sauber this morning and did not set a lap time while Nico Rosberg was forced to sit out the session as Williams Toyota opted to run test driver Kazuki Nakajima instead. Nakajima was just 17th fastest, two places behind regular racer Alex Wurz. |
