| 14.30 | Welcome to F1-Live.com and our live coverage of the 58-lap Turkish Grand Prix which gets underway in 30 minutes. |
| 14.32 | Felipe Massa claimed Pole Position for the second straight year at this circuit yesterday, with a best time of 1:27.329s. He will be starting on the clean side of the circuit, something of a concern for those starting with even numbers. |
| 14.34 | Lewis Hamilton got close to claiming the pole, but just missed out, therefore starting second in his McLaren Mercedes. With a big advantage over Massa in the championship, Hamilton will not be taking any big risks to try and steal away the lead at the start of the race. |
| 14.36 | Small mistakes cost Kimi Raikkonen on his two fast runs in qualifying yesterday. He starts third in the second Ferrari and unlike Hamilton, does need to take risks in order to try and score as many points as possible. The Ferrari has looked very strong at this circuit and his fuel burn run yesterday indicates he will be able to challenge for the race win. |
| 14.38 | Fernando Alonso starts fourth in the second McLaren after opting to run the harder tyre option on his final run in qualifying. Alonso seems to be on a different strategy and will have an extra fresh set of soft tyres on hand for the final stint of the race. Alonso needs the win to try and close the gap to Hamilton, so he may be able to use strategy to his advantage. |
| 14.40 | Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld start fifth and sixth and sixth for BMW Sauber and do not have the pace in their BMW Sauber F1.07 to challenge for the race win. However they do have the pace in the car to keep those behind fairly easily at bay. Once again, it will probably be a fairly lonely race for Kubica and Heidfeld. |
| 14.42 | Heikki Kovalainen seems comfortable now at Renault after a shaky start to his career and in most events is now the faster of the two Renault drivers. Kovalainen starts seventh and will be chasing some points while team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella starts tenth in the second R27. |
| 14.44 | Nico Rosberg ran well again in qualifying and should be a points contender from eighth position on the grid. However, the Williams team have used some rather strange strategies in the recent past, such as three stops in Hungary, which could be decisive as the team chase more points. Alex Wurz starts 16th and needs a strong race if he is to convince the team he can make progress following a poor qualifying run. |
| 14.46 | Jarno Trulli carries the flag for Toyota from ninth on the grid as Ralf Schumacher had a dismal run yesterday to 18th. Trulli will be looking to keep Fisichella behind him off the line as he aims to score points for Toyota. Starting 18th, Schumacher frankly has no chance of doing much. |
| 14.48 | Anthony Davidson was the standout driver in qualifying yesterday as he squeezed all the pace out of the Super Aguri Honda to qualify 11th. If he can do the same today for 58 laps, Davidson could possibly claim his first points in the series. He will however need to keep an eye on those right behind him on the grid. |
| 14.50 | Red Bull Renault racers Mark Webber and David Coulthard were disappointed not to make the cut and gain a top ten starting position. Both have run well at various stages of the weekend and will be looking to get the jump on Davidson from the get-go. |
| 14.52 | Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button qualified 14th and 15th for Honda. Button however suffered an engine problem in qualifying and takes a ten position penalty due to an engine change. Barrichello too has had an engine change it emerged this morning and will therefore start on the final row of the grid. Hard to see that they can make a lot of progress in this race. |
| 14.54 | Towards the tail of the field, Alex Wurz qualified 16th yesterday (14th on the grid) ahead of Tonio Liuzzi who is pushing hard to show his pace against his new Toro Rosso team-mate Sebastian Vettel. Ralf Schumacher was a dismal 18th yesterday ahead of Takuma Sato and the Spyker duo of Adrian Sutil and Sakon Yamamoto. |
| 14.55 | Due to engine change penalties, Button and Barrichello start at the back. |
| 14.56 | Qualifying saw most use the softer medium option. In the race however, most will opt for the hard Potenza for stints one and two, taking the softer tyre for the final stint. Fuel strategy will be similar at the front of the field, however Alonso may have gone for a little more than those ahead. |
| 14.58 | It is hot and sunny again at Istanbul Park as the drivers await the one minute board and the firing of the engines. |
| 14.59 | The engines fire up and the grid is being cleared. |
| 15.00 | Felipe Massa leads away from his pole position as the formation lap gets underway. Ferrari both on soft, McLaren harder tyres. |
| 15.00 | Most seem to be on the harder tyre apart from the Ferrari duo. That should help off the line at least. |
| 15.01 | The Red Bull duo also on soft tyres. |
| 15.02 | Massa lines up on the pole with Hamilton, Raikkonen, Alonso and the rest of the field taking up position. |
| Lap 1 | The Turkish Grand Prix is now underway. |
| Lap 1 | Raikkonen passes Hamilton, Trulli spins at turn one. |
| Lap 1 | Massa leads Raikkonen, Hamilton, Kubica, Heidfeld and Alonso. |
| Lap 1 | So a bad start for the McLaren duo. |
| Lap 1 | Alonso pushing to find a way ahead of Heidfeld. |
| Lap 2 | Trulli has fallen to the back of the field. A poor start from Davidson who lost three positions while Ralf gained three. |
| Lap 2 | After starting last, Barrichello is up to 16th in his Honda. |
| Lap 3 | Massa leads his team-mate by just under a second with Hamilton dropping back a little in third. |
| Lap 3 | Alonso saves the McLaren from a spin at the first turn. Oversteer on the MP4-22. |
| Lap 4 | It looks that Trulli was hit by Fisichella at turn one. That is why he spun. |
| Lap 4 | The front runners all run a second apart. Trulli has now moves ahead of Sutil for P18. |
| Lap 6 | The closest battle at the moment is Rosberg and Kovalainen. Rosberg is trying to move into P7. |
| Lap 7 | Alonso remains stuck behind the BMW Sauber duo as Raikkonen seems to be closing in on Massa now at the front. |
| Lap 8 | Hamilton is now over two seconds back from Raikkonen. |
| Lap 9 | Alonso is now right with Heidfeld, but catching and passing are two very different things. |
| Lap 9 | Alex Wurz is running well in 11th. He is less than half a second behind Mark Webber in the Red Bull. Liuzzi 13th is holding up Davidson and Schumacher. |
| Lap 10 | Webber runs wide and now Wurz ahead. |
| Lap 10 | Webber pits the RB3. |
| Lap 10 | Webber is wheeled back into the pit. Almost certainly a hydraulic issue again for the Red Bull team. |
| Lap 11 | So Webber becomes our first retirement in Turkey. He was running tenth before problems hit. |
| Lap 12 | Alonso continues to battle with Heidfeld as he aims to regain one position lost at the start. |
| Lap 13 | Button passes Trulli for 16th as Kubica pits from fourth position. |
| Lap 13 | That is an early stop from Kubica. We expected stops lap 16 or so. |
| Lap 14 | Massa continues to lead Raikkonen. Fuel strategy will be key for these two. Staying out a lap longer is the key. |
| Lap 14 | Kubica exited in some clear air, but he is now 11th. |
| Lap 15 | Heidfeld, fourth, is nearly ten seconds behind Hamilton now. |
| Lap 15 | Button is now closing in on team-mate Rubens Barrichello who runs 15th. |
| Lap 16 | Raikkonen is closing again on Massa. He will be looking to get the jump in the first round of stops. There is only one point between them in the championship standings. |
| Lap 17 | Button passes Barrichello. Some team instructions most likely. |
| Lap 17 | Heidfeld pits from fourth position. Good news for Alonso who was stuck behind him. |
| Lap 18 | Rosberg and Coulthard also pit from seventh and eighth. |
| Lap 18 | Heidfeld exits ahead of team-mate Kubica. |
| Lap 19 | Raikkonen pits from second position. |
| Lap 19 | Alonso pits from fourth position. |
| Lap 19 | Wurz pits his Williams. Alonso exits just ahead of of Heidfeld. So in reality he now runs a proper fourth. |
| Lap 20 | Massa pits from the lead. |
| Lap 20 | Hamilton stay out as Massa exits ahead of Raikkonen. |
| Lap 20 | Kovalainen has yet to pit and passes Massa on the colder tyres. |
| Lap 21 | Hamilton now pits fom the lead. He will probably exit back in third position. |
| Lap 21 | Kovalainen now leads from Massa, Raikkonen. |
| Lap 21 | Trulli pits his Toyota from 17th. |
| Lap 22 | Kovalainen pits from the lead. Fisichella has yet to stop. |
| Lap 22 | Kovalainen exits ahead of Kubica. That means Kubica lost a place to both Heidfeld and Kovalainen in the first round of stops. |
| Lap 22 | Button makes a nice pass on Coulthard in the final sequence of turns. He has yet to pit though. |
| Lap 23 | Fisichella pits. Sutil is in the pits and it seems to be a retirement. Sutil was 18th in the leading Spyker. |
| Lap 23 | Button pits from 12th. Liuzzi now runs in tenths and has yet to pit. Vettel runs a poor 17th in the second Toro Rosso. |
| Lap 24 | Barrichello pits from 14th position. |
| Lap 25 | It is still close at the front. Alonso now needs to pick up the pace and close down the 15s gap to Hamilton. |
| Lap 25 | Liuzzi pits from tenth position. |
| Lap 26 | Liuzzi back out in 15th position, seven seconds behind team-mate Vettel who has not stopped. |
| Lap 27 | Alonso (4th) is pulling away slowly from Heidfeld, but making no impression on the top three. |
| Lap 27 | Davidson pits from tenth. |
| Lap 28 | Ferrari are again running the soft tyre in this second stint. McLaren staying on the hard. There seems to be little between the two options though. |
| Lap 29 | Vettel makes his first stop from 13th. |
| Lap 30 | Adrian Sutil is back in the race, several laps down. |
| Lap 31 | Ralf Schumacher continues to put the pressure on Coulthard for position. He is on a one stop strategy. |
| Lap 31 | Hamilton seems to have no answer for the top two. He is dropping a couple of tenths a lap. He is however under no pressure from behind. Hamilton will not mind losing four points to Massa, who was 21 behind at the start of this race. |
| Lap 33 | Schumacher pits from 11th. |
| Lap 33 | Schumacher takes the soft tyre for the second half of his race. |
| Lap 34 | Sato pits his Super Aguri Honda |
| Lap 36 | Button pits from 12th. That is his second stop. |
| Lap 37 | Kubica continuing to push hard, but remains a second behind Kovalainen. |
| Lap 38 | Barrichello now in the pits in the second Honda. |
| Lap 38 | Kubica makes his second stop from seventh position. |
| Lap 38 | Raikkonen is now right on Massa's tail. |
| Lap 38 | Massa locks his front brake and Raikkonen is now just a car lenghth behind. |
| Lap 39 | Liuzzi pits for the second time from 12th. |
| Lap 39 | Massa about to lap Schumacher. |
| Lap 39 | Schumacher stays out of the way and both Massa and Raikkonen pass. |
| Lap 40 | Rosberg pits from seventh position. |
| Lap 41 | The Ferrari team are waiting in the pits. Probably for Raikkonen as he stopped first last time. |
| Lap 42 | Raikkonen pits from second position. |
| Lap 42 | A clean stop as he takes the harder tyre for the final stint. |
| Lap 42 | Heidfeld pits from fifth position |
| Lap 43 | Massa now pits from the lead. |
| Lap 43 | Massa exits ahead of Raikkonen who is in traffic. |
| Lap 43 | Kovalainen pits from fifth position. Coulthard also in. |
| Lap 43 | Hamilton is off track. He has a front right puncture. |
| Lap 43 | Hamilton limping back to the pits. |
| Lap 44 | Hamilton pits. His front right tyre is destroyed. Alonso takes fuel and then Hamilton straight in behind. |
| Lap 44 | Hamilton back out. He has lost a few aero devices, but now it is damage limitation. |
| Lap 44 | Fisichella pits from sixth. |
| Lap 45 | So now Hamilton is behind both Alonso and Fisichella. |
| Lap 45 | Wurz pits his Williams. Hamilton now aiming to close the small gap to Heidfeld. |
| Lap 46 | Trulli pits from 14th. |
| Lap 48 | The Ferrari duo seems comfortable now. They will probably now be conserving the car a little to the chequered flag. |
| Lap 48 | Hamilton is not lapping fast though. He must have some front end damage. Kovalainen will now be pushing to try and move fifth. |
| Lap 50 | Kubica's startegy has not worked today. He is now behind Rosberg. Stopping early each time has not helped. |
| Lap 51 | Rosberg however now has Kubica right on his rear wing. |
| Lap 54 | Kovalainen is pushing hard, but is seems Hamilton has the pace to keep him a couple of seconds behind. |
| Lap 55 | Sutil runs off track at turn eight. |
| Lap 56 | Mistakes or mechanical problems aside, the order now seems set. Massa will pull six points on Hamilton. Alonso will pull two and Raikkonen four. |

| Lap 57 | Raikkonen sets the fastest lap of the race to make a point. |
